Master Major Plan to Enroll Foreign Students

Main Content of Training Program

According to conference draft of the conference of graduate department -- " the several opinions about foreign postgraduate education program of Beijing Technology and Business University" in May 15, 2012, we plan to establish control engineering and computer science and technology professional students' training plan of the school of computer and information engineering. According to the requirements, we take the computer application technology training program as an example of foreign postgraduate education program’s modification.

Disciplines: Engineering First Discipline: Computer Science and technology

Second disciplines: Computer Application Technology Second disciplines course code: 081203

I. Training objectives

To foster moral, intellectual, healthy computer application specialties who needed by the modernization of our country socialism, capital of Beijing modern service industry and modern manufacturing industry, the requirements for foreign graduate students is stated as below:

1. Understanding contemporary China's politics, economy and culture and willing to participate in and promote international communication and cooperation.

2.With a solid theoretical foundation of computer science and technology, mastering of computer application technology system, and understanding the relevant computer software theory and structure of computer system; with a rigorous scientific attitude and high academic level; bearing competitive to conduct scientific research and ability to work independently, being competent for computer application technical teaching, scientific research, software development and other work.

3. Fluent in Chinese, can read the professional Chinese data, competent for computer application related research and technology manage work such as teaching and scientific research upon graduation.

4.Having a healthy psychology and physique


II. Research Direction

1.Visual Analysis and Cooperative Computing

Visual analysis and collaborative computing is the integrated use of visualization, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, multimedia, computer network, collaborative computing theory. It can solve the frontier and hot issues of multi-source, mass, dynamic data analysis of visual representation, reasoning, decision-making and collaborative computing. All of above will form an advanced visual analysis and collaborative computing technology are the core intelligent information processing and decision making support system. The visual analysis and collaborative computing method applied to enterprise management workflow management and control, visual analysis and decision-making, cooperative work, knowledge management and other areas are the main characteristic. The Main research fields include:

(1)Visual analysis theory, applications and systems

(2)Business intelligence and decision making

(3)Computer supported cooperative work and collaboration management


2. Electronic Government and Information Engineering Supervision

Electronic government and information engineering supervision is the integrated use of software engineering methods, computer network technology, artificial intelligence, software project management, as well as the modern management science theory and technology which form an interdisciplinary, cross-professional systems engineering. Its research goal is to solve the problems of our country’s E-government and Information Engineering in the construction of information network system, system of information resources, information application system building, upgrading, system planning, designing, development, supervision, evaluation and audit in the renovation project and other fields of theoretical and applied problems. The major research content is about the theoretical methods in E-government and information engineering supervision, the key technologies, system structure, work flow, successful example, application and development trend. Main research fields include:

(1)Information engineering supervision theory, applications and systems

(2)Electronic government theory, technology and method

(3)Information engineering supervision standards and specifications


Social Intelligence Network Computing

Social intelligence network computing is mainly concerned with social science and artificial intelligence theory, methods and applications. The research content includes an open complex giant system, intelligent control, network system, social network analysis, intelligent information processing, machine learning, data and knowledge mining, search engine and business intelligence. The feature of this research direction is based on the founder mental of information, intelligence, automation, multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, comprehensive research. Main research fields include:

(1)Internet Data Mining

(2)Supervision of Internet public opinion and network culture

(3)Intelligent search engine

The Credits Required

The courses total credit limit is no less than 28 credits. The credits consist of:

1.Public basic course: 4 credits

2.General discipline courses: 8 credits

3.Main courses: 8 credits

4.Professional elective course: 8 credits

When completing the course study, students are also required to obtain a compulsory part of 2 credits.

Based on the completion of the above provisions credits, graduate students can choose the other schools and departments’ courses under the guidance of the mentors as well.


Course Setting

1.Course Setting

The professional courses are divided into degree courses and non-degree courses. The degree courses (including public basic course, basic disciplinary courses and professional courses) are 25 credits totally. Student should choose the non-degree elective courses listed in the teaching plan under the guidance of the mentor with no less than 8 credits totally.

2.Refresher Course

Master students who have equivalent education or graduate from other department must study 2-3 related supplementary courses and pass the exam, taking no credits.


Compulsory Part

1.Academic Lectures (1 credits )

Master students must attend at least 20 seminars, academic reports or graduate student forum which are organized by Postgraduate Department and School (Department).

2.Social Practice or Teaching Practice (1 credits )

Social practice is to participate in the social investigation, undertake internal and external research, design, consulting, technology development and services and other activities. Teaching practice is an important part of training postgraduate, undergraduate teaching practice is mainly to carry out teaching, counseling, experiment guidance and the auxiliary guide thesis and project design.


Degree Thesis

Degree thesis is the important part of graduate cultivation. Through the dissertation work, the graduate student should be trained to do scientific research and work independently. The analysis and comprehensive ability, and the ability of finding and solving problems, cultivation of seek truth from facts work style and rigorous practical attitude should be cultured.

1.Topic Selection

Graduate students select the research topics under the guidance of the mentor. On one hand, the topic must consider the research frontier and maneuverability; on the other hand, it should conform to national and provincial funds projects, research projects, etc.

2.Research Proposal

The thesis work should be start as soon as possible under the guidance of the mentor. Finish the research proposal base on the literature researching, investigation and study. The research proposal include the topic significance, literature review, research plan and target, the main theory (technical) problems and proposed solutions. The research proposal should be preached in the range of subjects, and solicit opinions extensively.

3.Thesis Writing

The thesis must be finished by the master himself independently under the guidance of the mentor. The paper has a certain amount of workload, the thesis’s working time after the topic is determined, is generally less than one year. The requirements of reliable information, the theory is correct, clear thinking, the research and the direction of the latest achievements of understanding, to the research of new insights into the research direction, and the new research achievement. Thesis writing must be consistent with the" Beijing Technology and Business University master's degree thesis writing rules". The students should take the outstanding master of Beijing and the school grade as the goal, strive to improve the quality of academic degree thesis.

3.Thesis Oral Defense and Degree Application

Graduate thesis review, oral defense, degree application execute in accordance with " Working rules of University Master's degree awarded by Beijing Technology and Business University ". Actively promote the dissertation" double-blind" approval and public oral defense system.
