The university is located in Huaxi District of Guiyang City, a scenic spot with green mountains and bright waters renowned as “Pearl of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and the campus of Dong Jiayan is across from a national wet land park. The university has developed coordinately into a comprehensive higher education institute which involves with 9 academic categories, namely, liberal arts, history, law, fine arts, management, sciences, economics, engineering and pedagogy.
Guizhou Minzu University was founded on May 17, 1951 under the jurisdiction of the People’s Government of Guizhou Province. As one of the first minorities-oriented universities in China, it is a key provincial higher education institute sponsored jointly by the People’s Government of Guizhou Province and the State Commission for Nationalities.
The campus of Dong Jiayan is across from a national wet land park which covers an area of 1325㎡, another campus in construction covers 1500,000㎡. The university has a total construction space of 430,000㎡. There is a collection of 1.503 million printed publications and 14,600 GB e-books in the University Library.
